RevoLix Results Discussed at ASLMS 2006

Pleasanton, CA - April 6, 2006 - LISA Laser USA, Inc. announced that two clinical papers will be presented at the American Society for Lasers in Medicine and Surgery Conference 2006 (ASLMS) in Boston, MA, April 5th to April 9th.

Neurosurgery

The first paper will be presented by Dr. R. Verdaasdonk entitled “Interventional Neuroendoscopy Using a Continuous Wave 2micron Laser for the Treatment of Hydrocephalus” and will review the European results that have been achieved using this unique and safe laser technology. Patients as young as a few days old to over eighty years old have been successfully treated and many of whom have not required a shunt. Only a laser with shallow penetration in tissue and one that produces no mechanical trauma can be used in such a sensitive area of the body. Other lasers either have a deep penetration in tissue damaging structures outside of the surgical field or cause a violent bubble effect which in turn can produce mechanical trauma.

Otolaryngology

The second paper “Thermal Effects of Thulium and Carbon Dioxide Lasers on Excised Calf Vocal Folds” will be given by Dr. Jim Burns. The advantage that the RevoLix has over the Carbon Dioxide is that it is fiber delivered and can be used both in the Operating Room and in the Office. Also the RevoLix laser produces better hemostasis so that bloodless surgical procedures can be performed, reducing OR time and morbidity. Many procedures can now be performed endonasally in the Office dramatically reducing the cost.

LISA laser has utilized unique technology to develop RevoLix, a Continuous Wave 2micron laser which is the first innovation in surgical lasers in almost ten years. RevoLix is the only CW 2micron Laser in the world that has been approved for medical procedures in the U.S. market and it overcomes many of the problems associated with pulsed lasers when being used for ablation and incision of soft tissue. Visualization is vastly improved because of the lack of the ?bubble effect?. Lower laser powers are needed to produce a smoother incision with much less trauma to surrounding structures. ?I believe that we will see many new surgical applications both in the Operating Room and in the Office?, said Dr. Teichmann.

LISA laser has utilized unique technology to develop RevoLix, a Continuous Wave 2micron laser which is the first innovation in surgical lasers in almost ten years. RevoLix is the only CW 2micron laser in the world that has been FDA approved for medical procedures in the U.S. market and it overcomes many of the problems associated with other lasers when being used for vaporization and incision of soft tissue.

The RevoLix is FDA approved for the treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) and eliminates the problems associated with the KTP and Holmium laser. Visualization is vastly improved because of the lack of the “bubble effect”. Lower laser powers are needed to produce a smoother vaporization with much less trauma to surrounding structures. It has been used for treating BPH for almost three years in Europe extremely successfully.

RevoLix Jr. Replaces the CO2 Surgical Laser

Pleasanton, CA - September 14, 2004 - AllMed Systems, Inc. announced that LISA laser products has introduced a 15 watt Continuous Wave 2micron surgical laser. This laser is approved for cutting, ablation and coagulation of soft tissue in ENT, OBGYN, Gastroenterology, Urology, Pulmonary and General Surgery. Many in-office procedures can be easily performed.

The RevoLix Jr. will debute at the American Association of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Foundation annual meeting in New York, booth 2245, September 2004.

The RevoLix Jr. laser is manufactured by LISA laser products OHG of Katlenburg-Lindau Germany. LISA laser products is renowned for its range of Holmium and Diode lasers that are used throughout the world. “For a long time scientists have been looking fr a fiber delivery material for the carbon dioxide laser. Well, we have gone one better, LISA laser has designed a laser that has superior performance to the carbon dioxide laser and can be delivered through conventional and reusable fibers,” commented Dr. Heinrich Teichmann, Managing Director of LISA laser products OHG.

The RevoLix Jr. is part of a family of 2micron lasers that range in power from 15 watts to 50 watts. Unlike many other lasers, the RevoLix offers a full range of reusable fibers from 200 to 1000 microns that can be sterilized and reused many times, which creates substantial cost savings for the user.

LISA laser has utilized unique technology to develop RevoLix, a Continuous Wave 2micron laser which is the first innovation in surgical lasers in almost 10 years. RevoLix is the only CW 2micron laser in the world that has been approved for medical procedures in the U.S. market and it overcomes many of the problems associated with pulsed lasers when being used for ablation and incision of soft tissue. Visualization is vastly improved because of the lack of the “bubble effect”, lower laser powers are needed to produce a smoother incision with much less trauma to surrounding structures. “I believe that we will see many new surgical applications gaining FDA approval for the RevoLix over the course of the next year,” said Dr. Teichmann. “It is already being used in Europe for Neurosurgery and many other endoscopic procedures.”

25 Watt SPHINX Laser Power Increased to 30 Watts

Pleasanton, CA - July 12, 2004 - AllMed Systems, Inc. announced that LISA laser products has increased the power specification of their 25 watt SPHINX Holmium to 30 watts. This laser is used primarily in Urology to break up stones found in the kidney, bladder, urethra and the ureter. Other small urological procedures such as bladder tumor and strictures can also be performed.

The SPHINX lasers are manufactured by LISA laser products OHG of Katlenburg-Lindau Germany. LISA laser products is renowned for its range of Holmium and Diode lasers that are used throughout the world. “This extra power means that the SPHINX 30 watt is ideally suited to treat stones and small soft tissue procedures. This laser is unique, the fact that we can vary the pulso width from 150 microsecs up to 800 microsecs allows us to match the lasers performance to the surgical procedure”, commented Dr. Heinrich Teichmann, Managing Director of LISA laser products OHG.

The SPHINX is a family of pulsed Holmium lasers that range in power from 30 watts to 80 watts. Unlike other Holmium lasers, the SPHINX offers a full range of reusable fibers from 200 to 1000 microns that can be sterilized and reused many times, which creates substantial cost savings for the user. The SPHINX is used in Arthroscopy, Urology, ENT, Gynecology, Gastroenterology and Spinal surgery. AutoFlex is a new handpiece with a bendable tip that is utilized with the SPHINX laser in minimally invasive surgery. The surgeon can control the tip angle to steer the fiber into very tight spaces during the procedure.
