The RevoLix Thulium Wavelength Explained
So what is a RevoLix Thulium Laser? The RevoLix has been specifically designed to vaporize and incise soft vascular and non vascular tissue with good hemostasis without damage to surrounding structures.
The chart below shows how the different wavelength interact with water and hemoglobin. Hemoglobin levels can vary depending on the vascularity of the tissue and are eradicated after the tissue reaches a certain temperature. This has a huge effect on the depth of tissue penetration for lasers targeting this chromophore and can cause deeper thermal damage, sluffing and patient discomfort. Unlike lasers that target hemoglobin such as KTP 532nm and Diode 980nm, RevoLix targets water. You can see how the RevoLix laser intersects with the water line at 0.5mm which describes it’s depth of penetration.
The wavelength of the RevoLix laser system, which is almost identical to the well accepted Holmium laser, is known for its suitability for resection and fragmentation, safe application in an aqueous medium and excellent hemostasis. Abundant 2micron laser power allows high cutting rates and short operation time. This wavelength provides strong absorption in any kind of tissue and gives access to a wide range of flexible fiber delivery systems.

Higher Professional Fees
By using CPT code 52649 rather than 52648 with the RevoLix laser, surgeons are able to increase their professional fee by 40%. The technique of varoresection makes use of this code possible.
Side and End Fire Fibers
Whether a surgeon wants to benefit from the increase speed and control of end fire fibers or they wish to stick with a side fire technique, the RevoLix laser can accommodate both.
Lower Fiber Costs
Due to the reusable nature of the end fire fibers, facilities are benefiting from considerable savings by switching to the RevoLix laser. On average, hospitals are saving $112,500 per year* be switching to the RevoLix laser.
BPH Procedure
This video shows the end fire technique. Side fire fibers are also available and utilize the same technique as the KTP and Diode lasers.
Lease Program
The RevoLix laser is available for rental, purchase or lease. A lease program involves zero money down and a pay per fiber fee. At the end of the term, the laser is owned by the facility for a $1 purchase. The great news is that in most cases our lease costs are still lower than the fiber costs of facility’s current laser. If a facility decides to purchase a RevoLix laser, due to the low fiber costs, saving are on average $112,500 per year* which easily pays off the initial investment.
